Training Uaul Grond (2016-11-25)

Rerun of a competition I did in 2009. Used the opportunity to run on this map before the forest gets closed down for half a year (1.12-31.5) Its the wildest and hardest forest we have here in my region. In some parts it feels like only the half of the stuff you see is on the map. So you need to only take the biggest features to orienteer. By big i mean 3-10m high. Therefore you need to be super concentrated all the way to not get lost. Unfortunatly there was a storm in this area so specially around 10-14 there are a lot of trees on the ground. So its not only the hardest area but now its also hard to keep direction because you need to avoid the trees, or climb over them where it is possible. Would not want to place controls 7 or 8 with the map only. Was not 100% sure about the control feature there, but I guess I had the right one. Totaly lost it to 10, took the wrong cliff above the path and then there were so many more things in the forest than on the map. There were some construction works going on on the path before 16 and after 19. Before 21 there was a lot of snow on the ground because this area is at wintertime always in the shade. Else it was almost snowfree. Anyway, it was once again super nice!
