Jukola leg 1 (2017-06-18)

I think I have talked with many people about my condition before start. So lets talk about the race itself. Started very carefull. Felt like many overtaking. But this was according to my plan so no problem. Hit the first two controls nicely and had full control of what was going on. Wanted to go down to the big path to 3 but nobody did so before me, so almost changed my plan. Fell rght after 4 in to this small stream full of stones. Hit my left knee quite badly. Hurt a lot after the race but no time for pain during the race. To 6 nobody had the same forking as me and another guy, but we managed to keep cool and do our own thing. Was a bit afraid of the stony thing before 8. So did run around. More or less same people around me afterwards and the president of Finland and about 40 more people chearing at the control. Not very accurate to 9 but still more or less smooth. Decided the long leg already to 10 and felt that I slowly catched more and more guys and that more and more top teams were around me. Couldnt push to hard on the long leg since it was pure running on paths wich was not so nice for my injury. The control afterwards was quite tricky and everybody in front of me did a mistake. I could relocate fast but lost 30s on many of the next controls because I trusted the others more than myself. Wanted also to run more right towards 17 but all the others had the different forking or didnt understand what was going on. So didnt trust myself enough and could match everything I wanted to see with what I did see. Knew imidiatly what went wrong but did a few meters to less and got in doubts if I knew where I was. Did see the people on the big path and finally found my control. Afterwards it was only running. Very mixed feelings in the run it. Once again (3rd year in a row) I did finish a Jukola leg where I didnt knew beforehand if I would be able to...
